I've been trying to build a Raspberry Pi K8s cluster with the 6 Pis I had lying around.

First my SD cards were crap, so I ordered new ones. Then I needed a way to power them, so I got a USB power station.

Then I didn't have convenient networking, so in came a switch and 6 new etherrnet cables.

Finally I decided that the Pi 3s were just not up to the task, so I got 6 new Pi 4s (4GB). Now the only original bit left was the microUSB cables for power.

I got the Pi 4s today and... they're USB C 💩

After months of wincing every time I open a jar or turn a doorknob, I broke down and got an Ultimate Hacking Keyboard so that I could set up a split keyboard with angled-out tenting.

So far it's mostly just showing me all the places that I use the wrong fingers when typing, but the build quality is great.

I'm most surprised by the fact that the mouse emulation is actually decent! I didn't expect it to be really usable but I'm finding myself not grabbing the mouse as often.

I used the neural net GPT-2 to generate some April Fools pranks.

conveniently they're all pranks you play on yourself. or possibly solo performance art.

In-home isolation is starting to look dire in a couple of ways. None of the grocery stores around have any delivery availability.

I have plenty of rice and beans so can last a while, but I'm eyeing the rabbits out in the yard for when I run out of toilet paper.

I wish there were some sort of anti-cat filter on Mastodon. It would be great to have a diverse and interesting feed without having 3/4ths of it as boring cat pictures all the time.

Me: Due to COVID-19 I'm going to start working from home.

My boss: That's fantastic news! I was hoping you'd start working!

I really should be writing a conference speaking proposal right now, but I don't wanna. Someone should write an AI to do it for me.

Due to a hilarious confluence of circumstances involving flight delays and rescheduling, I ended up somehow getting upgraded to first class on a flight when that probably shouldn't have happened. I can now report my findings:

All the vegetarian food in airports is hidden in the first class lounge. You can't buy it for love or money in the main airport, but it flows like cheap whiskey in the first class lounge.

Apparently rich people eat more morally than I thought.

@Aleums one of my fav things about neural nets working with cat pictures is that so much of the source imagery it learns from has IMPACT TEXT on it. so it learns that cats look like that, that it's a part of a cat.

@pixelfed I just deployed a Pixelfed instance but don't see anything in the discover view. Are there any cool accounts I can follow to get that populated?

I'm playing with running an
instance of but haven't figured out how its federation works yet.

Anyone know of any interesting Pixelfed accounts to try to follow? (Or any at all? Discovery here is more difficult than I expected!)

"Hooray"? I don't need your sarcasm, corporate travel website.

My new house has ethernet jacks in most rooms! Hooray!

But I cannot for the life of me figure out why the cable runs all terminate in a *tiny* panel hidden in the unventilated coat closet next to the front door. A closet with no power.

I'm putting a small POE switch in there and hoping it doesn't heat up too much...

Just checked into my hotel in Stockholm. This is the view from my bed.

If I don't check in tomorrow it's because creepy empty-eyed animals have eaten my soul and there's a mysterious addition to the wallpaper menagerie staring blankly and waiting for the next victim.
